My mum is luurrvly! Having spoken to her today, she is prepared to pay off the mortgage .. having waited 18 months to get out of the “fixed period” .. during which Pig has agreed to rent the place out (obviously once the place is fixed up) … life is finally looking up!

I’d quite like someone to pay off my mortgage.
May I strongly suggest allowing him to rent the place only with a written tenancy contract with a fixed termination date. You can give notice to quit at the same time as sending the contract out. That should also cover things like utilities and taxes.
